Christmas Hot Chocolate

Brrrrrr! It's COLD outside! Jack Frost has showed up here in the South, but who knows. We could be running the AC for Christmas Day.
I hope everyone is enjoying the Christmas season so far. We are taking time to soak up the special moments with our family. Christmas through the eyes of a child is so magical. Our Elf on the Shelf is keeping us on our toes every morning, as well as answering all the questions our little kiddo has. He asked us several times what is the true meaning of Christmas. We tell him it is the birth of our Savior who came for us. He told us the other night, it's also about spending time with the ones you love. Thanks PAW Patrol for teaching him that!
One of his favorite things is drinking hot chocolate. So for this cold day outside, here is the recipe we make for our family. All you need is simple ingredients you usually have on hand. Milk, cocoa powder, honey or maple syrup, vanilla flavoring and sea salt. That's it.

We put two cups of almond milk on the stove. Use whole milk if you like. Add two tablespoons of maple syrup (more if you want it sweeter), two tablespoons of cocoa powder, a pinch of sea salt and two teaspoons of vanilla flavoring. Pour the ingredients into the milk and stir constantly over medium heat with a whisk.

Bring it to almost a boil but don't scorch it.

Pour into cups and add some marshmallows

I have used honey before, but I prefer the taste of maple syrup.
Recipe:
Two cups of almond milk
Two tablespoons of maple syrup
Two tablespoons of cocoa powder
Two teaspoons of vanilla flavoring
pinch of sea salt
Mix together in a boiler on the stove until desired temp. Don't bring it to a boil. Pour into cups Add some marshmallows. Serves two people
